Oh…it’s December. Time to put the boat away, I guess.
And the motorcycles, too? BRRR….those guys are tougher than I am, to be sure. See page 6 for what I’m talking about, a bike run and food/toy drive the Sunday after Thanksgiving. BRRR…
How ‘bout them Blue Devils, huh? They beat rival Dartmouth on Thanksgiving Day in a game that was fun to watch. See page 12 for some great pics by Glenn Silva. He was also at the pep rally and bonfire (page 13), which got the team and the community all fired up for the big game.
Acushnet pinned its new fire chief last week. See page 16 for that and other Selectboard news.
During the football game halftime the School Committee dedicated the turf field to former Superintendent of Schools Robert Baldwin. See page 7 for that, along with a great pic of the grand kids.
But, the big news is that holiday events are gearing up. See page 3 for some of the annual lighting events that usually have Santa as a special guest.
This Friday is the lighting of Benoit Square in Fairhaven, with sing-along and Santa. In Acushnet and New Bedford, Sunday is the big day.
This is the season of giving, so check out the different organizations and their event to help them out.
Next weekend is the Old Time Holiday, and we’ll have more on that next week. I had to bump it this week to make room….but here it is HERE: Saturday, 12/8…save the date.
And while you’re being generous, please consider helping out your local, independent free newspaper with a small donation (or large…really, it’s okay). Any amount will help. We have to rely on our readers as much as our advertisers to keep publishing.
Until next week then… see ya,
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
