Oh, no, say-it-ain’t-so! It’s August. All the back-to-school stuff is starting to fly off the shelves. Sniff, sniff. But, hey, there’s still lots of summer left. We even have another heat wave forecast for this week.
Fairhaven is looking for a few good people to help the town planner create a 40R district, which is designed to increase housing options in town. It sounds like an interesting idea. It would allow residential units in areas that do not allow that now. The working group would figure out the best place in town to create the district and would create design standards, too. Check it out on page 20.
Fairhaven got a couple of nice grants this week (see page 6) for work on a couple of waterfront projects.
Our cover story is a fun one. I missed it a couple of times over the years, but I really like to take the ride during the quahog relay. This year the Town Administrator joined the Harbormaster’s crew. I think that’s a first. See page 12 for that.
The concerts in the center are coming to an end. After tonight, there’s only one more week (on 8/11), so if you haven’t gotten there yet, you only have two more chances. Our photographer Glenn has been at all of them. Last week he said more than 400 people showed up, with some dancing in the street until the very end.
Ohhhh yeah. The big feast is this weekend (see page 3). Geesh. How could I forget that?
There’s other good stuf in here, of course. But you’ll have to thumb through and see for yourself.
