Michelle and Barack Obama: Ahhhhh….we needed that. Intelligent, well spoken, respectful, thoughtful, upbeat, kind…and good looking too.
Ahhhh…we needed that.
I encourage you all (yeah, yeah, not wasting my time with some of you) to find some coverage online, coverage with video. See what it’s like to have thoughtful people with functioning frontal lobes AND functional emotions speak about the greatness of this nation, of us, of humankind.
Hear what joyful laughter sounds like from people enjoying each other’s company, not sneering and berating, but just laughing and joking around.
Watch and hear a person of substance say, “Everybody counts. Everybody matters” [Barack Obama].
Learn what our entire existence as a nation is about in one sentence by our classy, handsome, smart, former president: “No one is above the law or beneath its protection.” Hell, just listen to coherent sentences, bunches of them all in a row.
And Michelle, arguably better than him: “That’s where the truth of this country lies. Not in grabbing as much as we can get for ourselves…but in the overwhelming goodness, the relentless striving, the quiet dignity that is inside all of us.”
And this perfection: “Hope is all we have. It is the essential spark that lights the fire of change. Hope is a choice. Whether or not we use our voices to speak up is a choice.”
I choose hope. And I hope you do, too.
I know this can’t last forever, this cruel regime we are all stuck under. And I choose to hope that it will end soon.

This weekend the summer festivals are here (see page 3), including: Homecoming, the big one, with all kinds of yummy foods by the nonprofits and so much more; Tours of our magnificent high school; Fairhaven’s Got Pride event, on Sunday; Full Bloom Festival on Sunday. See pages 5, 11, 22 for more events.
Acushnet is having its Town Meeting on Monday, see page 8 for that.
Fairhaven had a select board meeting and Romano is the chairperson…ah, the young’un is like almost grown up, huh? See page 4 for that.
There’s more in here of course, but it’s time to send this baby to the printer.
Oh….one more thing: We have ONE more issue before our summer break, so if you have any events to promote, send ‘em in pronto!
