My Evil Little Sidekick crossed the rainbow bridge this week (see page 14). He was 20 years old, about. He was a rescue, so his exact age is not known. My sister, Chris, rescued him from a shelter in Fall River. He bit everyone in the family over the years, except my mother. Go figure. I took him after my sister died from cancer in 2019. He was a royal pain in the you-know-what, but he was the cutest little thing you ever saw. He gave us many moments of entertainment, and was, at the very least, an interesting little dog.
I hope there was a big bucket of that bland, boiled, white-meat chicken you loved so much waiting for you at the end of the rainbow bridge, little buddy.
We have some meeting coverage this week. Acushnet picked a new Town Administrator (see page 3). Now they just have to make the deal. Just in time for budget season, right?
Our own Steve Bouley went to the Super Bowl! How cool is that…even if he was rooting for the other side. Ahem. See page 11 to read all about it.
And Fairhaven’s big birthday bash is this Sunday (page 5). It will be outside in front of town hall because we are tough New Englanders.
Not as tough as Minnesotans, though. My heroes.
This week’s atrocities perpetrated by our own US government include horror stories about the conditions in the so-called “detention centers,” although “concentration camp” is more apt. Does it make you feel safer that we, the most powerful country in the world, is feeding people rotten food, cramming them all into one room, with lights on 24/7 and one toilet out in the open and no access to showers? Little babies are getting sick and being denied medical care unless they are at death’s door. It’s sickening.
So, important question: Are we great again yet?
Until next week then, see ya,

Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
