There’s just something about Marsh Island, aka Tin Can Island, that draws the debris from New Bedford Harbor onto the banks of this little piece of land at the end of Taber Street in Fairhaven that juts out into the harbor.
On Saturday, 3/13/21, a group of 13 volunteers, cleaned up a “mountain of trash,” according to Operation Clean Sweep’s Facebook page.
The Fairhaven public works department then picked up about up 20 bags of trash collected by the volunteers.
The day was organized by Gary Lavalette with volunteer help from Operation Clean Sweep (http://www.operationcleansweep.net/, 508-979-1493), Be the Solution to Pollution (https://www.facebook.com/pollutionsolution/), and The Climate Reality Project/Southcoast (crmasc2019@gmail.com).
