Press Release
The FHS Class of 1986 is proud to announce the third annual David A. Sisson Memorial Scholarship established in memory of their beloved classmate. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating student who most exemplifies the qualities of their beloved friend.
David Sisson was a proud member of Fairhaven High School’s Class of 1986, deemed by him as the “Class with Class.” He passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2016, just weeks before a pre-holiday gathering of his classmates and friends that he enthusiastically organized. His passing left many in shock and with a profound sadness.
David’s larger-than-life personality, compassion for others, winning smile, great sense of humor, love for gathering with friends, and his affinity for 80’s rock & roll are just a handful of the salient traits that David was known for, now greatly missed.
Once a proud member of the Fairhaven High School marching band and likely the most school-spirited student to have walked the halls at FHS, David’s classmates thought it fitting to establish a scholarship to honor his memory.
Scholarship applications are now available in the high school Guidance Department. The successful candidate will be a graduating senior from Fairhaven High School who is furthering his or her education at an institution of higher education (degree or certificate program). The student must display a high level of school spirit via participation in school activities and events and must possess a passion for music as evidenced by his or her participation in at least one of the school’s music programs. Completed applications must be returned to Guidance by the end of the day on April 6.
