Submitted by Wayne and Vicki Oliveira of Fairhaven, dog parents to Lucy
On Thursday, November 7th, our beautiful puppy Lucy ran off while in the care of a relative. Fairhaven Animal Control Officer Terry Cripps put a message out on social media with her photo within minutes, in hopes that someone would see her in their neighborhood.
Immediately, the community stepped forward and dozens of people were out searching for our sweet girl and sharing her picture on social media. People searched late into the night and many reported where she was last seen to help bring her home.
Sadly, her story came to a tragic end when she was found deceased on the highway on Friday morning.
We want to express our gratitude to relatives, friends, and strangers from the community for all their efforts in trying to find her. Whether it was actively searching, watching, praying or messaging, please know that we are truly grateful to each and every one of you for your efforts.
Special thanks to ACO Terry Cripps for all he did for our little puppy from the moment he brought her into our lives until her very last second with us, we are forever grateful.
We have read all the condolences and beautiful messages on social media and are humbled that so many folks cared so much about our sweet girl. Fairhaven truly is a wonderful and special place to live with so many caring and compassionate individuals.
