The bag that holds the winch chin for the gangway at Hoppy’s Landing came loose in the last storm. When winds reach 50 miles per hour, the gangway is raised to protect it from being damaged. To re-attach the bag, the Fairhaven Fire Department helped out with Ladder 1, allowing Shellfish Warden/Deputy Todd Cox to reach the winch. Mr. Cox had to clean out a bird’s nest, too, before re-attaching the bag that holds the chain.
