More than 1800 people registered to run in the 52nd Fairhaven Father’s Day 5K Road Race on 6/21/26; 1650 finished according to race results online. This was the first race without founder, Allen Days, and he was remembered by his daughter, Carol-Ann Days-Merrill, at the start of the race with a moment of silence.
She told the crowd her father always said, “Fairhaven is the place to be on Father’s Day,” and “Whoever crosses the finish line is a winner.”
She also noted that the race has donated more than half a million dollars to the town and local organizations.
“He loved this race,” Ms. Days-Merrill said about her father.
First over the line was Riley Cole, 22, of Northampton in 15:09; second place went to Troy Winkler, 21, of Sanderson, FL, in 16:22; third was Ryan O’Connell, 35, of Middleborough in 16:31. First woman was Nora Blodget, 26, of Boston in 19:08; second was Naomi Cass, 22, of Westport, in 19:26; third was Lily Valcovic, 23, of E. Taunton, in 19:57.
Oldest to finish was Barbara Belanger, 89, of Fairhaven in 41:05; and James Younglood, 88, of Freetown for the men in 40:55.
