Democrat Elizabeth Warren, the senior US Senator from Massachusetts, announced her bid to run for president of the US on Saturday, 2/9/19, in Lawrence, at the Everett Mill that was the site of the famous bread and roses strike, when thousands of women walked off the job demanding better wages and working conditions. Sen. Warren told her supporters that it was time to fight to stop the trends of the last decades, and rebuild the middle class. Thousands of people braved frigid temperatures to hear her speak. The rally kicked off her official campaign. She traveled to New Hampshire and Iowa in the next few days. She was introduced by Rep. Joseph Kennedy III. US Senator Edward Markey, Rep. Lori Trahan, and Lawrence Mayor Daniel Rivera also spoke.
