The Sustainability Committee broke ground on 6/17/26 on the new Sconticut Neck Native Plant Garden in Macomber & Pimental Park on Sconticut Neck.
Red & Black Chokeberry and Paper Birch were purchased at Tree Talk Natives in Rochester through a Keep Mass Beautiful grant.
The Committee will be working on the park, prepping the soil, etc. in the coming days. Additional plantings and signage will occur in late summer/early fall using additional Community Preservation funds.
We are seeking additional grants to fund an ADA compliant path through the garden.
The Committee hopes to host speakers from local native nurseries this fall as well.
The Sustainability Committee is a Town of Fairhaven appointed Committee that meets regularly.
