The New Bedford LGBTQ Winter Film Series returns in 2021 in a new virtual format, with a slate of popular movies chosen to inspire conversation about relationships and other topics relevant to the LGBTQ community. The event is made possible by funding and support from Mass Humanities.
This year, fans are asked to watch the films prior to joining a Zoom conversation moderated by members of the Film Series. The movies are available either through online streaming platforms or on DVD, with DVDs available to check out from the New Bedford Free Public Library with a SAILS library card (call in advance to reserve).
Next up on Sun., 2/14, at 3 p.m. is “Love, Simon.” Based on the novel by Becky Albertalli, “Love, Simon” (2018) centers around the life of Simon Spier and his big secret: He’s gay. When a high school classmate threatens to expose him, Simon must come to terms with his identity.
