It Is Up To The Supreme Court
The Supreme Court will be the sinker or the savior of democracy
Every law, regulation or executive order implemented during Trump’s administration will be challenged by a legion of attorneys representing states, organizations or individuals.
The Supreme Court, the final arbiter of all laws, has three options regarding lower court decisions that will undoubtedly make their way to the docket: declining to hear the matter, placing it on their schedule and letting it languish indefinitely or make an expedited decision.
Unfortunately, the Court has utilized all three options primarily to the benefit of Donald Trump and his supporters.
Based on the majority of conservative justices the decisions may provide opportunities to punish his opponents, expel those immigrants he considers undesirable, enrich himself and corporate supporters, and maintain an anti-democratic regime.
Decency, impartiality, and personal legacies no longer motivate the majority of Supreme Court Justices who appear more interested in personal emoluments and the enrichment of their wealthiest benefactors.
Unless the majority of justices begin to exercise some restraint and dedication to constitutional principles, rather than Donald Trump and his enablers’ agenda, they will destroy all that has enhanced American world standing and reversed the “arc of Justice.”
