Opportunities abound for you to “be the change”
Someone once said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
These words guide me. In recent months, many of you have chosen to “be the change” as well, stepping up to serve on various Boards and Committees in town to make positive differences.
Since I took office, I am happy to say we have made 26 appointments, 15 of those being people who never served before. These individuals all bring new ideas, perspectives, and experiences to their respective roles.
My goal is to continue expanding participation in our town as there is no greater impact on your and your neighbors’ daily lives than local government. I encourage anyone living in Fairhaven to bring your time, talents, and ideas to our Boards and Committees.
We have openings on the Agricultural Commission, Bikeway Committee, Broadband Study Committee, Cable Advisory Committee, Commission on Disability, Conservation Commission, Council on Aging Board of Directors, Cultural Council, Economic Development Committee, Finance Committee, Lagoa Friendship Pact Committee, and Sustainability Committee.
Visit the town’s website for more information about these openings at https://www.fairhaven-ma.gov/volunteer-opportunities.
If you have any questions about joining a committee, feel free to reach me at spowers@fairhaven-ma.gov or on my Facebook page, Stasia Powers– Fairhaven Select Board.
When we all come together, positive things happen for our town. Now’s the time, Fairhaven, to continue building on the foundation we have laid together.
Stasia Powers, Fairhaven Select Board member
