MassDOT has informed the town of Acushnet that the Hamlin Street bridge replacement project has been delayed. Road work this week will be temporary road repairs in preparation of re-opening Hamlin Street to traffic by the end of the week. Work was set to be done on 1/24 and 1/25, weather permitting.
Hamlin Street has been closed to traffic since 1/9, but will be reopened in the next few days because the project has been delayed until July. According to a Facebook post by Acushnet Selectboard member Bob Hinckley, the Mass. Division of Fisheries and WIldlife halted the project, although it is unclear why.
The original bridge replacement project was slated to take three years: https://fairhavenneighborhoodnews.com/hamlin-street-to-close-for-almost-three-years/
