Well, summer is trying to hang on, but the fall events are here, one by one, getting scheduled. Some kind of different stuff this weekend, including a Wampanoag Powwow. Now, that sounds cool. Check out page 6 for details.
The annual town auction is this Saturday (see page 3), so if you need anything on the list, now is your chance to get it on the cheap.
Our cover story is always a fun one, the Apple Peach Festival had all kinds of fun food and entertainment (see page 12). After no festival for two years, people just seemed very content to hang out.
The family of Conrad Roy III held a 5K walk/run this weekend to bring awareness of a law that would make suicide coercion illegal in Mass. (see page 19). Who knew we are one of only seven states without one?
The state is starting the meetings for the bridge replacement project (see page 20). Imagine, that might actually happen. I had someone ask how long they’ve been talking about it. I think…my entire life.
Now wouldn’t that be fun!
There’s other stuff in here, of course. Pretty soon, we’ll be gearing up for Halloween, my mostfavoritest of holidays. Speaking of which…
There’s a costume swap sponsored by the Fairhaven Sustainability Committee. You can drop off old costumes, decorations, etc., at town hall, to be re-used by other people. PLEASE make sure the stuff you drop off is clean, okay? At Kids Fest on 10/8, the items will be available for people to pick up for free. Pretty cool, huh? See page 5 for details.
