Well, the midterm election happened. Thank goodness we can stop being bombarded with all those lying ads. GAWD, how do they sleep at night?
As of press time, the Senate and the House were still in limbo. But, both Acushnet and Fairhaven had counted up all their votes. Both towns had pretty good turnout for a midterm. See page 4 for that.
The Fairhaven Select Board had a meeting this week (see page 4). They’re working on getting better internet service in town, or at least a little competition.
The Academy Building wheelchair ramp is finished. They came up with a creative way to keep it from getting run over by a car, too. See page 18 for that.
This week, Friday, is Veterans Day. See page 3 for information on ways to commemorate the day. In Fairhaven, we will have our annual parade. It would really be great if the route is lined with people showing support for veterans. Bring a little flag, too, if you can.
Acushnet will hold its ceremony at its Veterans Memorial Park. If you’re closer to Acushnet, then go and show your support there.
New Bedford also has a parade, and they can use the same kind of support lining the route. There’s is later, too, so you could even go to two parades.
Not everyone has the day off, but if you do, try to get to one of these events. They are all in the morning, so you’ll still have the afternoon to enjoy your day off.
We also have a little story/remembrance from a Vietnam Veteran (see page 6) that I thought would be good for this issue. Give it a read, and if you’re in the area, I’m sure Mr. Treadup would love a visit at Our Lady’s Haven.
There’s other stuff in here, of course…oh, like our cover, right? Fairhaven is considering a 40R overlay district that would allow for denser development in some areas of town. Definitely check it out on page 13.
Until next week then… see ya,
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
