Well, Town Meeting has spoken, and it’s different from last time. They approved both the ADU and 40R bylaws changes. See page 11 for that.
No mention was allowed at all about the conflict of interest allegations against Planning Board members Ruy DaSilva and Patrick Carr. Town Counsel decided that the TM members could only talk about the merits of the article, not any other reason why they may not want to vote for it. I spoke with the Town Moderator and Town Counsel after to get an underlying legal reason for that. It seems kind of specious to me.
How can the supposedly most democratic process we have keep people from saying why they have misgivings about an article? Why are those two elected officials allowed to get off the hook and not explain anything?
Everyone else got to talk about process, but the second they mentioned the elephant in the room, they were shut down.
It stinks to high heaven, but…here we are.
We have a great story about the honor wall at the senior center. The whole thing was refurbished, all the pictures reframed. It looks fantastic. See page 12 for that.
We also had a fire in town from some outdoor burning that got away from the homeowner (see page 13). We are in a real drought, folks. No outdoor burning. I know it’s a pain not to be able to burn your leaves. But the smallest spark can start a huge fire in these conditions. Luckily no one was hurt, but the house is damaged and it will be a long time before they can move back in.
There’s other stuff in here, of course, including holiday happenings that start in earnest this weekend.
