Fairhaven’s first Food Truck Flavor Fest filled the town center with taste delights and lots of people despite a steady rain and some pretty good wind. Lines in front of almost all the trucks were long, with waits of more than 30 minutes. Except, alas, for the cold, ice cream type places.
Lindsay Watt of Fairhaven and her friend Lori Candido of New Bedford said they would not let a little storm stop them from being able to sample different foods in one place.
“I was hungry,” said Ms. Candido. “And I like food trucks. They have fusion cooking. I wanted to try it.”
And, it wasn’t a full downpour, at least not at first.
“We’re not blowing away,” said Ms. Ms. Watt.
“It’s not the Wizard of Oz,” said Ms. Candido.
In the alcohol area, Luke Isaksen, Emma Moorehead, John LaBrode, and Claire Hubert were hanging out under the tent.
Ms. Moorehead said it was a new tradition
“It’s nice to have events we can walk to,” said Ms. Hubert.
At the Blue Stream Shellfish tent, Dale Leavitt said he considered only taking 100 oysters because of the weather. He did, however, take 500. At about 7 p.m., he was opening bag #4. Each bag has 100 oysters.
Across the street, though Sorbae Frozen Treats did not fare quite as well.
“It’s not the weather for it,” said Monica, but added she got more than she expected.
