Line the route to show your support
Fairhaven High School will not hold its regular graduation ceremony on Sunday due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Instead, seniors and their family members will join a procession of cars from Acushnet to the high school where graduates will receive their diplomas.
On Sunday, 5/31, at 10 a.m., seniors will ride in cars (as passengers) from Acushnet Elementary School on Middle Road to Elizabeth Hastings Middle School in Fairhaven. The seniors will be arranged alphabetically so they may the proceed to Fairhaven High School, via a winding route to pass some of their favorite spots along the way.
They will receive their diplomas at the front of FHS, one by one, staying in the car until it is their turn to get their diploma.
A police escort will lead the procession, and people are welcome to line the route to cheer on the grads.
The route starts at Acushnet Elementary at 10 a.m. sharp, heads south on Middle Road, left onto Leonard Street, right onto Main Street, left onto South Main Street, stays right at fork at the town line onto Main Street into Fairhaven, along Main Street to left onto South Street, and right onto Fort Street to Fort Phoenix, then left onto Old Fort Street, then left onto Green Street, right onto Center Street, passing Our Lady’s Haven and Rogers School; then left onto Tripp Street and right onto Washington Street, right onto Huttleston Avenue (Rte. 6); to right onto Sconticut Neck Road, turning around at Wood School, back to Route 6 East (right) to head towards East Fairhaven School, then left onto New Boston Road passing by EFS, then left onto Bridge Street across Route 240 to Route 6, right onto Route 6 to right onto Adams Street, and right onto Ash Street to Elizabeth Hastings Middle School parking lot.
There the cars will wait until everyone is assembled. From EHMS, the cars will go to the high school for the diplomas to be handed out near the front entrance.
