Camping
Dear Frankie,
Recently our family went camping. Why would anyone sleep on hard dirt or sit on a log to eat in front of a fire that made your front hot and your back cold when you lived in a house with great beds, a fully operating kitchen, and central heat and AC?
From the moment we left for the campground, it was a disaster. We hit traffic leaving the city, got to our favorite restaurant after it closed, and were assigned a campsite next to the playground. It was a holiday weekend, and endless groups of kids were screaming, chasing, swinging, throwing, or crying in the playground.
It was enough to give you a migraine. I don’t get it.

Dear Lacy,
As the humans say, “Different strokes for different folks.”
You said you live in a city, so one reason might be that your parents wanted to spend a few days in the country and be outside.
Some humans go away to experience a different culture or setting or escape their usual routine. It might also be that your parents wanted to spend time together as a family.
Living happily in a family requires compromises. Do you think your parents like standing around the dog park in the winter and lousy weather? Probably not, so why do they do it? Because “you” like to go to the park, catch up with your friends, and exercise.
They put your interests and needs before their own. Need I say more?
