Dear Frankie,
Recently, I have been thinking about my birth mother. I can’t remember much about her, but I know I would know her smell a mile away.
Fortunately, I kept the blanket she and I slept on in our crate in the shelter. The shelter lady gave it to me the day I went to my new home. Last week, I took it out of my treasure box. I was thrilled it still had her smell.
When my human mom noticed me lying on my blanket and crying, she asked if I was thinking about my birth mother. I said I wasn’t because I didn’t want to hurt her feelings. Now I feel terrible for lying and not asking if she would help me find her so the three of us could meet.
I’m curious about where I came from. I also want my birth mom to meet my now mom to see the person responsible for my good life.
Another reason is that if my first mom feels guilty about giving me up, a meeting might comfort her.

Dear Lars,
How could your human mom not be touched by the reason why you want her to meet your birth mom? In essence, you want to introduce your birth mom to the person responsible for providing you with a loving family.
Secondly, most adopted children are curious about their birth parents. Your human mom sounds like a sensitive person willing to help you find her.
Just remember, not all searches are successful. In some cases, the mother is never found; in others, when she is, she is unwilling to have a meeting. If you are able to handle these possible outcomes emotionally, I suggest you start by reviewing the shelter records.
Let’s hope your birth mom was as lucky as you are in finding a great family.
