Acushnet
The Acushnet Council on Aging/ Senior Center serves as an emergency shelter for the Town of Acushnet. This location will also serve as a cooling place for those battling the extreme temperatures.

Fairhaven
The Fairhaven Council on Aging/ Senior Center is cooling center. It is open to anyone who needs to get out of the heat Call 508-979-4029 to find out if they will have extended hours on any especially hot days. Their regular hours are Mon.–Fri., 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; Wednesdays open until 8 p.m.
New Bedford
In response to the extreme weather, the City of New Bedford will continue its practice of designating public libraries as cooling centers. All library locations have air conditioning and staff on hand to assist residents.
Residents are reminded that several City parks have splash pads that offer a break from the heat for children. Splash pads are located at the following parks: Riverside Park, Brooklawn Park, Ashley Park, Clasky Common, Beauregard-Pina, Harrington Park, Magnet Park, Ben Rose, Montes Park
