Observed annually in Dublin, Bloomsday is a celebration of the life of Irish writer James Joyce. On Thursday, June 13, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum (RJD) will offer a two-part tour to celebrate Bloomsday with Lead Gardener Rick Finneran. Starting in the Museum’s historic rose garden on County Street, the walking tour will explore nearby gardens, church bells, and the literary history of the neighborhood. Stops along the way will include Our Lady of Assumption Church, the Friends Meeting House, and the First Unitarian Church among others. Participants may join the entire tour or part of the planned itinerary. The Museum is located at 396 County Street, New Bedford.
The tour is offered in conjunction with New Bedford’s AHA Night and is free and open to the public. For more information, call the RJD at (508) 997-1401 or visit the Museum’s website, rjdmuseum.org.
