YTI One-Act Plays

February 7, 2019 by Staff Writer

Your Theatre, Inc. has cast two short one-act plays as part of its February Heart-Warmer presentation running from February 8th to February 10th at the Rivet Street Playhouse at St. Martin’s.

Appearing in “Adam’s First Job” is Chris Podrecca of Mattapoisett, Carl Roy of New Bedford and Tim Goff of Fall River; and appearing in “First Valentine” is Kevin Mitchell and Joanna Tomasz, both of Fairhaven. Eric Paradis has directed both plays.

In “Adam’s First Job,” written by local playwright Ray Veary, Adam is hard at work in the garden of Eden, at his first job. It is a wondrous world, and this light-hearted, funny tale shows Adam breaking ground on the human experience that has been endured ever since.

In another fun look at life and relationships in pre-civilization, “First Valentine,” written by local playwright Lawrence R. Houbre, Jr., shows how Adam has invented a holiday! Adam and Eve are just outside the garden having a discussion about his lack of responsibility, just before he presents her with a gift and inaugurates the first holiday to celebrate love.

The last part of the presentation features special speaker Rob Palermo of Stamford, CT, an ex-limo driver from Beverly Hills. He will relate stories from his years of driving, and share his experiences and the frustrating, rewarding and entertaining romps he endured. It’s a funny, yet poignant observation of the human condition, told first hand by a true explorer of down-to-earth mankind. He has driven for Jimmy Stewart, Elton John, and Joe Walsh, and will tell stories about driving for Johnnie Cash, Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell and Don Rickles.

This is an open seating event, please call 508-993-0773 to confirm a seat: $12 – GENERAL ADMISSION, $10 – MILITARY, SENIORS AND STUDENTS, $8 – YTI SUBSCRIBERS.

The theatre is located at 136 Rivet St. (corner of County St.), New Bedford, in the auditorium of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.
