Aiyaiyaiy! It’s springtime, somebody tell Mother Nature. I think she’s drunk again. Maybe she should go run the FBI, or the Department of Warmongers. Or apparently, any number of cabinet departments.
Anyway, the calendar says it’s spring.
Earth Day events last week, and our cover story this week. Unfortunately Mother Nature scared people away. But there’s more coming up.
The West Island 5K is this weekend (see page 5); an on-the-water event, brrr (see page 14). And, of course, Fairhaven Town Meeting the first glorious Saturday in May (see page 4). It’s usually a very glorious day outside, just when we all have to be inside, right? The Rec Center is having a special Saturday Kool Kids to provide free child care for Town Meeting Members (see page 4 or 9). So, no excuses. This is your tax money being spent so you need to get there.
And, the election field is set…probably (see page 16). There’s an off-chance someone could withdraw, but unlikely. It ends up there are only two contested races. After it all shook out, with some people not returning papers and the rest of them deciding on the full terms or partial terms, we ended up with two contested races. I guess it’s better than none, right?
And our own Jessica Fidalgo landed a cool gig as the legislative aide for one of the state reps (see page 14). Now that’s fun! Congratulations, Jessica. But don’t you be getting any ideas about leaving this small pond, okay? Not yet, anyway. Still a lot of mess to clean up.
