The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that it will be performing bridge repairs on the New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge that carries Route 6. Weekend closures will be in place, Friday, April 10, at 9:00 p.m. through Monday, April 13, at 5:00 a.m., and Friday, May 1, at 9:00 p.m. through Monday, May 4, at 5:00 a.m. Work is anticipated to be completed by Monday morning, May 4.
A traffic detour with signs and message boards will be installed to notify and direct traffic around the bridge closure. Access to local businesses will be maintained during all times of the bridge closure. Detour signs will be in place, with assistance from police details.
Marine traffic will not be impacted during each weekend closure.
