The Jan. 11 service at the Unitarian Memorial Church will be enriched by the talents of guest musician Jodi Heights.
The Boston-based singer-songwriter, who holds multiple degrees in music, including a master’s from New England Conservatory, plays piano and Celtic harp. Her recent album, “Nocturne,” focuses on night and the sacred darkness.
Graeme Smith of York Calling, an international music and culture blog, praises Ms. Heights as “an artist who …create(s) music that has something to say. It’s a rare treat in the world of music and one that should be cherished.”
Ms. Heights is the sister of the church’s music director, Tim Evans.
At the 10 a.m. service, Rev. María Uitti McCabe will relate the inspiring story of nine German women in the resistance who escaped a Nazi forced labor camp and walked across the front lines to freedom. The theme for January is “Nurturing Justice.”
The church and parish house are accessible to the handicapped via a ramp off the Center Street driveway. For more information about the Unitarian Universalist Society of Fairhaven, call 508-992-7081 or visit uufairhaven.org.
