In 2025, local Red Cross volunteers became a lifeline for hundreds of neighbors reeling from disasters around Massachusetts.
In a powerful display of community, volunteers from every chapter in the Massachusetts Region responded alongside partners to provide safe refuge, hot meals, emotional support and basic health services for families devastated by major disasters like the recent fire on Olympia Place, which displaced more than 200 UMass Amherst students and other residents just weeks before the holidays.
The Red Cross also distributed more than $1 million in financial assistance directly to thousands of Mass. households recovering in 2025 from disasters of all sizes.
This holiday season, visit redcross.org/MA to make a financial donation, or to give back through volunteering. You can also make an appointment to give blood or platelets. The need for blood is constant — and just like disasters, medical emergencies don’t take holidays.
