We have some sad news this week. Well known Korean War veteran, Jimmy Leal, died. He was very active in any event that had to do with veterans. He was a survivor of the notorious “Battle of Pork Chop Hill” where he served as a medic.

I always loved seeing Jimmy at events, and usually with his wife Dolores, until she passed away. They always had big smiles for just about everyone, well, most of the time. Jimmy had no patience for certain types who did not serve, but somehow felt entitled.

He was quite the man. He will be sorely missed in these parts.

The Select Board meeting had the usual drama. Honestly, you’d think there’s money involved or something. These are volunteer positions, people, right? But they do have a certain amount of authority. Did it ever occur to you that they don’t want you in those slots because you never saw a development project you didn’t love? You’re all going to turn this whole town into one big strip mall. Maybe you should learn to say “no” yourselves once in a while. Anyway, see page 4 for that.

There’s lots of fun stuff in here. It’s our last issue for a couple of weeks, while I try to recharge these old batteries. Our next issue is 7/17. So, hang onto this copy.

There’s info on  Fairhaven’s July 4th festivities (see page 3), New Bedford’s fireworks, and Homecoming this weekend. So be sure to check every page.

And be sure to thank our advertisers for supporting the little paper with a big voice.

No time for the Big Buffoon and his latest cruelties.

No time to get into how so many people think it’s all a big joke…as long as the people at the other end aren’t quite white, right?

Until next time, see ya

Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
