Cape Verdean Flag Raising
Join the Cape Verdean Recognition Committee for the raising of the Cabo Verde to celebrate CV Recognition Week on Mon., 6/30, 5:30–7 p.m.on the steps of City Hall, 133 William St., downtown New Bedford. Entertainment at 5:30, followed by the raising of the Cape Verdean flag at 6 p.m. Celebration to follow at the Bisca Club, 161 Acushnet Ave, with music and entertainment.
Cape Verdean Recognition Parade
Sat., 7/5, Union St., to Cape Verdean Veterans Memorial Hall/Serenity Gardens, 11 a.m. Parade route is Union St. to Acushnet Ave., to Grinnell St., to Purchase St, and ends at Cape Verdean Veterans Memorial Hall. Parade Marshall will be Buddy Andrade. Parade will be followed by Kultura Festa at Serenity Garden Fields, between Bedford St., So. sixth St., Wing St., and Pleasant Street from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Kultura will have live music, vendors, cultural food, and much more.

Cabo Verdean Heritage Month
The Cabo Verdean Heritage Month Coalition is delighted to announce that this July will mark New Bedford’s first annual Cabo Verdean Heritage Month! This occasion seeks to honor and celebrate the rich legacy of tradition, resilience, and achievement of the Cabo Verdean community in New Bedford, and to further historical and cultural knowledge of Cabo Verde and its diasporas through education and various forms of artistic and literary expression.
Through the theme of “Djunta Mon” or “Joining Hands,” the Coalition affirms its commitment to unity, inclusivity, and collaboration with the many wonderful Cabo Verdean organizations and events that already do this cultural legacy work in June, July and beyond. In honor of this effort, we have partnered with New Bedford Tourism to host a grassroots digital calendar of Cabo Verdean cultural and heritage events happening throughout the month.
