Acushnet TA treats community to cookout

June 25, 2025 by Staff Writer

By Beth David, Editor

Acushnet Town Administrator, James “Jamie” Kelly sponsored his final community cookout on June 12, 2025 at the Council on Aging/Senior Center. Mr. Kelly sponsors the annual cookout as a way to give back to the community. He said it is something he has done in every community he has worked in.

This year, he not only treated everyone to burgers and dogs, he donated a grill to the COA so they can continue the tradition when he is gone. He is scheduled to retire on June 30.

“Thank you Jamie for your continued generosity and support to the COA,” wrote the COA on its Facebook page. “Thank you to all of our Acushnet staff, Board of Directors- Chair/Musician, Dan Smith and our community officials for making this event so special!”

The Acushnet COA/Senior Center is located at 59 1/2 So. Main St., call 508-998-0280 to learn about daily programs.
