Fairhaven honored veterans with its annual Veterans Day parade on 11/11/23. The parade began at Benoit Square and marched down Main Street to Fairhaven High School for the raising of the Big Flag and a ceremony.
Speakers included Fairhaven’s new Veterans Services Officer Michael Jenney; US Navy Senior Chief Larry Jones; and Fairhaven Select Board Chairperson Leon Correy.
The video will be available at FairhavenTV.com in the coming days, under Fairhaven Community Media.
Acushnet also held its annual ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on Main Street at Pope Park. The program included remarks by Selectboard chairperson Kevin Gaspar; patriotic music by bagpipers and the Ford Middle School choir, as well as recorded music; the pledge of allegiance; laying of the wreath; a flyover by a US Coast Guard helicopter; and a moment of silence for a veteran who died this year.
