Okay, from sweltering death-heat to October in one fell swoop. Gotta love New England. Don’t worry, the heat is coming back. This little cold snap is just to remind us that summer won’t last forever. But, there’s still plenty of summer left. You can tell just by looking at page 3 and the Happenings pages for some fun events coming up.
Our cover story is a first! Fairhaven’s first ever Foam Day was lots of fun (see page 12). Don’t worry, it wasn’t that chemical stuff, it was Dawn dish detergent. Pretty cool, huh? The kids had a blast, and so did the adults.
Acushnet had a Christmas in July event that included a spectacular view of the PJ Keating quarry (see page 13). Now that’s some hole.
Fairhaven also held its very first DisABILITY Pride event. They had all kinds of stuff to do and information to share. See page 14 for that.
FHS has a new model for athletic director. See page 11 for how that’s going to work.
We also have some meeting coverage for you (see page 4), with talk of the Biggest Little Feast coming up, which reminds me that the big feast in New Bedford is this weekend (see page 3).
Now I’m going to make a pitch for saving local news. I know most of my readers like the printed paper, and my advertisers do, too. But the cost of printing is pretty high, folks. The advertising is just not cutting it.
Please, if you have a business, consider advertising in the Neighb News. If you appreciate this newspaper and you are a business owner, you know how expensive it is to produce something like this every week.
If you don’t own a business, please be sure to notice who our advertisers are and let them know you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
And if you think the news is worth paying for, please consider a small donation to the Neighb News. If even half of our loyal readers gave $20 a year, we’d be in pretty good shape. Honestly, folks. We can’t keep on like this. We need your support .
Until next week then, see ya
