Big weekend coming up!
The encampment, however, has been scaled back, but it’s still going to be held (see page 3). Organizers say there’s a shortage of cannon-grade gun powder, so they won’t be firing off the five big cannons. But they will fire off the small cannon throughout the day, and the muskets.
Oh well. It’s still a cool thing, though. You should still definitely go. That little cannon makes a pretty big boom.
The Memorial Day parade is on Monday (see page 3), and it looks like the weather is going to be perfect. So, make sure you set aside a little time to watch the parade go by and show your support for those who served in the military.
Just stand along the route, or at the end to show your support. Or go to the high school and watch them raise the big flag. That is a sight to see. It’s a beauty, and it’s big, and up against the backdrop of the high school, it’s spectacular.
We had a couple of cool celebrity sightings lately. Our own Barbara Despres chatted up Tommy Lee Jones, and Jeff Cardoza had an honest-to-goodness beer with Ben Foster. Check out pages 12 and 13 for that…Barbara on page 12, Jeff on page 13.
Our cover story is the Huttleston Marketplace, and that’s where I just happened to run into the now-famous Barbara Despres and got to ask her a few question.
The markeplace has all kinds of fun stuff to look at and buy every Saturday (page 12). As the season progresses, they will have local produce, too.
There’s other stuff in here, of course. As you page through, be sure to notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then..see ya,
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!
