On Friday, June 11, 2021, Fairhaven Public Schools and Town officials held a brief ceremony to celebrate the beginning of the construction of the new synthetic turf field, FHS Alumni Stadium.
Key players in this project, such as the FHS Alumni Association President, Bob Foster, were invited to participate in the ceremony. Other integral players, Arthur Eddy (principal/owner at Traverse and Justin Robertshaw (Senior Associate) (not in attendance) from Traverse Landscape Architects, Ed Maiato Senior Project Manager/and Matt Maiato, Project Manager of Green Acres, School Committee Chair Brian Monroe, Selectman Bob Espindola, and Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Baldwin also took part in the intimate celebration.
FHS Principal Andy Kulak, Athletic Director Chris Carrig, and Business Manager Nicole Potter who played key roles as members of the Turf Committee were also present, as well as other school committee members, FHS students, staff and coaches.
Initial work on the field is scheduled to begin by the end of June, and the new FHS Alumni Stadium is expected to be completed by the end of September 2021, allowing FHS fall student-athletes an opportunity to play on it in the upcoming fall sports season.
