The Buzzards Bay Coalition celebrates Earth Day with hands-on activities focused on caring for the environment as well as the opportunity to be entertained and inspired by the possibilities that already exist for making a positive impact toward sustainability.
The Coalition will sponsor a community trail and green-up workday at reserves from Fairhaven to West Wareham on Saturday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Working together, we will show some love and care to natural resources and local trails in the Buzzards Bay watershed.
Volunteers will clear vegetation around trail entrances, maintain parking areas, and prepare our properties for the growing season. This event will take place at the following locations: The Acushnet Sawmill (Mill Road Acushnet, MA); New Boston/Tripps Mill (New Boston Rd. Fairhaven, MA); Shaw Farm/ Carvalho Farm (Shaw Rd. Fairhaven, MA); The Bogs (Acushnet Rd. Mattapoisett, MA); and Horseshoe Mill (Station St. West Wareham, MA).
All are welcome to join the effort. Participants should bring work gloves, close-toed shoes, water, and a mask for the workday. Contact the Coalition via email at: info@savebuzzardsbay.org or call the Coalition’s office at 508-999-6363, ext. 200.
And for entertainment and inspiration, the Coalition is collaborating with the SouthCoast Film Forum on a four-day, online screening of the documentary 2040, an exploration of what the future could look like by the year 2040 if the best solutions already available were rapidly adopted. The screening will run from Thursday, April 22 through Sunday, April 25 at https://socofilms.org/
