Volunteer for a committee
This year has been an interesting one. People have been paying closer attention to Town Government than in years past and many of you have participated in public meetings, written letters to the editor of this newspaper, posted concerns on Facebook, etc.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you (or inform you if you are new to Town Government) that one of the best ways you can make an immediate impact on your local government, and Town in general, is to volunteer for one of the many boards and committees that are appointed by the Board of Selectmen each year.
These Boards and Committees carry out many vital functions for the Town, such as the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Conservation Commission, the Historic Commission, the Economic Development Committee, Broadband Study Committee, Library Trustees and many more.
It’s a great way to become involved, to meet some new people, and to make a positive impact in your community. Please consider donating some of your time or talent to any area you are passionate about or that you just think the town could use some improvement in.
I hope you will consider submitting a letter of interest for appointment in 2021 to one of the many openings. You can do so by writing the Selectmen at https://www.fairhaven-ma.gov/user/49/contact
A complete list of all Boards and Committees may be found on the Town’s website at the following link: https://www.fairhaven-ma.gov/boards and the annual reports are a great resource to give you a sense of what each group is involved in. The annual reports can be found at https://www.fairhaven-ma.gov/board-selectmen/pages/town-reports.
