Oh my God, you guys are funny. I had a good laugh: The rumors of our demise are greatly exaggerated. Yup..I get to really say that.
Someone told a clerk at one of the convenience stores that we are going out of business, that last week’s issue was our last. Yet…here we ARE!!!
How petty can you get? The poor clerk sounded very nervous when I called to ask him why he was telling people we were not publishing anymore. He said a man told him. I said, well, a woman delivers our papers, so…
I had to laugh. Someone out there is getting pretty desperate to shut us up.
Good luck with that.
We have a jam-packed issue this week, with tons of election stuff. We have candidate statements for Tree Warden (see page 22); candidates night coverage for two races (see Board of Health on page 16, and Tree Warden on page 25). We still have to write up the School Committee. Sorry, there’s just only so much room.
We have letters up the proverbial wazoo. We had to hold some, too. In any case, if you want to run a rah-rah-for-your-candidate letter, you’d better get it in ASAP. We will not run letters that criticize candidates next week because it’s the last issue before the election, so the object of the criticism will not have a chance to respond. But we will take
Speaking of criticism, Mr. Freitas did not show up to the Selectboard meeting on Monday (see page 13), leaving the TA decision in limbo still. SURPRISE! Yeah, right. If you believe all that, then I have a lawyer (Sidney Powell) who has a good story you’ll believe, too.
We had a bit of excitement last week that, thankfully, ended up with a happy ending. A special needs man was lost after he got separated from his group at Cushman Park (see page 16). The whole region mobilized to find him including individual residents of Fairhaven who went out on their own, with flashlights in the cold to look for him. Luckily, the weather had warmed up a bit and he found shelter in a car. He was found the next morning and is okay.
There’s other good stuff in here, of course, including ads from candidates. Be sure read up on their views so you can make an informed vote.
And, be sure to notice who our advertisers are and let them know you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week then….see ya (from a distance)
