Your Theatre serves up a cure for the pandemic blues in their production of Paul Slade Smith’s The Outsider. Directed by Eric R. Paradis, it’s a timely, hilarious comedy that skewers politics and celebrates democracy.
Ned Newley doesn’t want to be governor. He’s terrified of public speaking and his poll numbers are impressively bad. But political consultant Arthur Vance sees things differently. He believes Ned could be a winner, if the public is convinced that the worst possible candidate to run for office is, in fact, the one that they want.
The Outsider runs two weekends only: Fridays and Saturdays, January 14-15 and 21-22 at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays, January 15-16 and 22-23 at 2:30 p.m. Performances are at Your Theatre, 136 Rivet St. (County St. entrance) in New Bedford. Free parking in the St. Martin’s Church lot, next to the church hall (theatre) on the south side of the church. Tickets are General Admission $18; Seniors and Students $15. All seats are reserved; call 508-993-0772 or email email@example.com.
