The gym at the Fairhaven Recreation Center filled up with youth vendors on Saturday, giving the public a chance to buy hand made items from local youngsters just in time for holiday gift giving.
Organizer, Jessica Fidalgo, said they had 30 youth vendors, and there was a steady flow of people all day. Items for sale included hand painted Christmas ornaments, original artwork, hand made jewelry, and even paper art.
“They’re all so excited,” said Ms. Fidalgo about the young entrepreneurs. “This is giving them a really good confidence boost.”
Young Reagan was down to the last of the hand-strung rosaries she made, and there was still an hour to go. She and her sisters were also selling earrings, ornaments, and pot holders.
Erik and Hobie were selling hand painted and decorated Christmas ornaments made from oyster and quahog shells they found on the beach.
And Oliver Brodo was reportedly “rolling in the dough” selling his original paintings and hand painted Christmas ornaments. He even had his award-winning artwork on display, which was included in the Steamship Authority’s 2025 calendar.
