Newcomers to Fairhaven and longtime Fairhaven library patrons are invited to join the staff and Friends of the Millicent Library on Sat., 9/99, to learn “What’s Up at Your Library? More than Books.”
Tours of the library at 10 & 10:15. At 10:30, Children’s Librarian Jane Murphy will introduce the library’s collections and services for children and young adults, including story time and summer programs. At 11:30, Archivist Deb Charpentier will explain the library’s local history resources, including the soon-to-be-launched digital edition of the Fairhaven Star. At 12:30, library staff and volunteers will demonstrate the digital resources available through the Millicent Library and show visitors how to acquire an e-library card from the Boston Public Library to access even more online resources. Staff will be available throughout the day to help Fairhaven residents sign up for library cards. (See the library’s website, http://millicentlibrary.org/the-millicent-library-rules/, to find out what you need to bring.)
Visitors are also invited to join the Friends of the Millicent Library to help us reach our goal of 125 members for the library’s 125th anniversary.
Refreshments in the Community Auditorium from 1:30 to 2:30.
