The New Bedford Whaling Museum has released an expanded website to give people a way to “Museum from Home.” The new section on the Museum’s website is complete with trivia activities, virtual tours, and behind-the-scenes talks with expert staff. The content includes something for everyone, including parents looking for fun and educational activities to do with their children, teachers in search of content for their virtual classrooms, and aficionados looking to quench their art and history thirst. The Museum has also released exclusive activities on its social media channels to complement the online content. Go to www.whalingmuseum.org/Museum-from-home.
“We know now, more than ever, that a Museum is not limited to or defined by its physical campus,” said Amanda McMullen, President and CEO. “We have metaphorically broken down our walls to bring you content and activities you can explore from the home that will inspire learning, creativity, and contemplation.”
For the safety of visitors, volunteers, and staff, the New Bedford Whaling Museum closed to the public on March 13, 2020 amid the public health concerns related to the coronavirus. The museum will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so and under the guidance of Federal and State agencies. Essential staff, including the security and facilities team, continues to be on site daily to ensure the safety of the campus and Collection.
