One Whale Makes Seven Shores Prosperous February 11, 2022 – June 26, 2022, New Bedford Art Museum, 608 Pleasant St., New Bedford
In this new exhibition from the New Bedford Free Public Library’s art curator, Allie Copeland, we get a new look at whaling from a Japanese perspective. Beginning in the 18th century, feudal lords who oversaw whaling efforts commissioned emakimono, or picture scroll, to illustrate whale hunting methods as well as anatomically describe the known species of whales.
Our hours are Thursday through Sunday from 10 AM – 4 PM. Advanced booking is preferred and timed entry tickets may be purchased through our website newbedfordart.org or by phone (508) 961-3072.
