Household Hazardous Waste Day
The Fairhaven Board of Health is holding a Household Hazardous Waste Day this Saturday, 10/6, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the public works building, 5 Arsene Street, for Fairhaven residents only. Proof of residency will be required.
Residents will be able to dispose of a variety of hazardous waste materials, such as gas, oil, kerosene, motor oil, oil-based paints, chemical cleaners, mercury, etc.
Other programs offered during the event include paper shredding and latex paint reclaim.
Residents will also be able to get information on ordering a rain barrel and a compost bin.
Gifts to Give, which repurposes a variety of clothing, books, and other items, will also be at the Hazardous Waste Day to accept items.

Fire Department Open House
The Fairhaven Fire/EMS is sponsoring the annual Open House in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, on Sun., 10/7, at Fire Department Headquarters, 146 Washington St., Fairhaven, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Open and FREE to the public, this even will include a variety of activities for children, demonstrations and FREE pizza. Fire trucks and police vehicles will be on display for children to explore. Activities include: “Jaws of Life” demonstration, fire extinguisher demonstration, “Sparky the Fire Dog,” life fire practice session, station tour, emergency medical services display, and much more. Pump Track Ribbon Cutting
Fairhaven Pump Track for BMX bicycles will hold a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. on Sat., 10/6, at the new track in Macomber/Pimental Park, Bernese St., Fairhaven. Fun for all ages.
