The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 499 will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of hostilities of the Vietnam War with a special ceremony Saturday, May 17 at the Fort Taber-Fort Rodman Military Museum & Veterans Memorial, 1000C Rodney French Blvd., New Bedford.
The museum will open at 1 p.m. with refreshments available. At 2 p.m. a ceremony with speakers will take place inside the Vietnam section of the museum.
At about 3 p.m. events will move outside to the Vietnam Memorial at Fort Taber Park. There will be a benediction, wreath laying and the playing of “Taps.’’
After the ceremony, the public is invited to return to the museum for a gathering and refreshments.
