Opening Day
The Feast commences Thursday with the assembly of the Festeiros (Feast Committee Members) at the intersection of Earle Street and Acushnet Avenue. Led by the Feast President, the Festeiros march in a special procession down Earle Street to Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church which is located at the corner of Earle Street and Madeira Avenue. At the church, Father Daniel O. Reis celebrates a special Benediction to the Blessed Sacrament.
Entertainment
Continuous live entertainment on four stages featuring top name entertainment plus cabaret style music and Fado singers in the quiet atmosphere of the Courtyard Café at the Museum of Madeiran Heritage.
Food & Drink
Traditional Madeiran Portuguese dinner with numerous menu choices for full dinners in the main pavilion. Cook-your-own barbecue beef (carne d’espeto), sweet malassadas (fried dough) plus linguica (sausage) and baccalau (codfish) sandwiches. Hamburgers, hot dogs and French fries. Madeira wine imported in giant casks by special agreement with the Madeiran Government.
Family Fun Day, Saturday, 8/4
Kids eat free from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Family Day program has grown over the years and this year is chock full of wonderful entertainment that will please the child in us all. Featuring both kid-themed activities such as face painting, carnival rides, zoo, and more. Grandparents eat for half-price in the pavilion.
5K Road Race
On Saturday, check in at 8:30 a.m., race time 10, Madeira field.
Specials
Kids day and half-price senior specials on Saturday afternoon. Free admission to the Museum of Madeiran Heritage, 5K road race (cash prizes, entry form on website), largest and longest parade in New Bedford starting at Brooklawn Park, traditional folk dances, family oriented carnival midway, street vendors and much more!
Parade
The Feast of the Blessed Sacrament will host its annual parade on Sunday, in the City of New Bedford. The parade will start at 2p.m. Over forty different organizations will march the one mile route from Brooklawn Park to the Feast grounds at Madeira Field.
Museum Café Entertainment
Museum Café located in the cobblestone courtyard just south of the building. The Cafe serves wine, cool drinks and espresso and cappuccino. Quiet Madeiran and other music create a calming atmosphere where conversation is easy at comfortable bistro style tables. Renowned local fado singers are regular guests at our café singing the soulful Portuguese music.

Concerts Under the Stars
The outdoor summer concerts are sponsored by the Fairhaven Improvement Association with the Southern Mass Credit Union and additional sponsorship by local businesses. The West Island Improvement Association hosts Classic Movie Night Series this summer. Join us at the WIIA Community House, 41 Causeway Rd., Fairhaven, on the following dates and times to watch and discuss the following films:

Monday Morning Fun
Monday Morning Fun at the Visitors Center with cartoonist Zack Giallongo, Mon., 8/6, 9–11:30 a.m., program at 10:00 a.m., Fairhaven Visitors Center, 141 Main Street, Fairhaven
A fun morning for kids aged 5 to 12 and their parents or guardians on the lawn of the Visitors Center. Play old fashioned lawn games (bean bag toss, horse shoes, nine pins, frisbee, hula hoops, etc.), jump in a bounce house, get your face painted by Heart Body Arts, and more. On hot mornings, there will be sprinklers–bring a towel. Enjoy some Dorothy Cox’s “own made” ice cream, Del’s Frozen Lemonade, and bottled water.
At 10:00, cartoonist Zack Giallongo, author of DuckTales Doodles, Ewoks — Shadows of Endor, Broxo, and illustrator of the Stratford Zoo series, will draw and talk about making comics. Games and program are free. There is a charge for face painting and refreshments. Bounce House sponsored by Our Lady’s Haven. National Night Out
The Fairhaven National Night Out Committee is pleased to announce our Second Annual National Night Out Event on Tues., 8/7, from 5pm to 8pm on front lawn of Fairhaven High School, 12 Huttleston Avenue, Fairhaven, MA
The Fairhaven National Night Out Committee is pleased to welcome all members of the public to join us on the front lawn of Fairhaven High School for our second annual National Night Out event. The event will offer free entertainment such as a K9 demonstration from the Mass. Environmental Police, a helicopter landing from the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing (weather provided & barring an emergency), music provided by KJ Tunes, a dunk tank (“Dunk a Cop”), and tours of Fairhaven High School to name a few.
Last year the event attracted hundreds of people of all ages and was a huge success. We hope you’ll join us for an enjoyable time on the comfortable lawn of our beautiful high school!
