Press Release
The Greater New Bedford Track Club (GNBTC) is proud to announce the distribution of $26,500 in charitable donations to local nonprofit organizations following the success of the 2025 Fairhaven Turkey Trot.
Proceeds from the annual Thanksgiving Day 5k road race were awarded to three organizations serving critical needs across the Greater New Bedford community:
• $20,000 to Shepherd’s Pantry, supporting food access for individuals and families facing food insecurity
• 5,000 to the Hunger Commission at United Way of Greater New Bedford, helping advance regional hunger relief initiatives
• $1,500 to support Adaptive Physical Education programming at the Southeastern Massachusetts Educational Collaborative (SMEC), expanding opportunities for students with diverse physical needs
Now in its 15th year, the Fairhaven Turkey Trot is one of the area’s most popular Thanksgiving traditions, bringing together runners, walkers, volunteers, and spectators in support of local causes. The event is organized entirely by volunteers from the Greater New Bedford Track Club, with all net proceeds reinvested back into the community.
“The Turkey Trot is about more than running — it’s about showing up for our neighbors,” said Meg Rogers, Greater New Bedford Track Club president. “We’re incredibly grateful to the participants, sponsors, volunteers, and Town of Fairhaven who make it possible for us to give back at this level.”
Since its inception, the Fairhaven Turkey Trot has generated well over $100,000 for local nonprofits.
