Most of us hate it when we ditch daylight savings time because it gets dark so early. But there is one good thing about it: You can go for an early evening ride to see all the Christmas lights, even if you need your beauty rest early. The house on Gellette Road, which is famous for its display, is up and running, as is the house on Route 6, which also rivals that of the Griswolds.
There are houses all over the area that are decorated with lights for the holidays, so feel free to simply drive around and look. Please be careful, though. NO stopping on busy roads, or driving slower than is safe.
Many public spaces are also decorated, such as Fire Station 1 in Acushnet’s center, Benoit Square in Fairhaven, Clasky Common Park in New Bedford, and some other parks in New Bedford. Even just strolling downtown will put you in the spirit of the season.
Happy Holidays, Everyone!
