Time for the annual migration

October 25, 2017 by Fairhave Neighborhood News

Submitted by Jim Anderson

Like his fellow sailors, Bill Green of Pandanarum had brought his schooner, Isabella, to Fairhaven Shipyard for a last refurbishing before calling it a season.

The Isabella, a meticulous reproduction of a wooden schooner, was commissioned by Bill in 2007 from plans for a fishing boat of the early 19th century.

From Fairhaven the Isabella took on a crew of friends, admirers and hangers-on for one final sail (and party!) of 2017. The winds were brisk, the temperature perfect, and the colorful schooner rode the waves home. Now tucked into Tripp boatyard back in South Dartmouth, Isabella would be missed. But maybe it will be short winter?
